The joints relevant for artists

Today's programm was quite heavy on theoretical input which is why there's unfortunately not too much to show. The topic were the joint types in the human body that enable a person to move their bones along certain axes.
The six important types for an artist are the Hinge Joint, the Ball & Socket Joint, the Ellipsoid Joint, the Pivot Joint, the Saddle Joint and the Plank Joint. In the corresponding assignment I was able to get used to them.

The task was to draw the joints in a very simple and geometrical way in order to understand their possible movements better. Adding to that the original images also showcased varying perspectives which made it more difficult.
I started with the elbow joints and rather failed with my first two attempts. It was difficult for me to abstract the forms in the beginning and I traced them rather. As I wasn't satisfied with that myself I had to force myself to think of the bones as machine parts before I could reach the results shown in the image above. I especially like how the elbows turned out, because it is very clear that it can only move along one axis.
